Summary,
Sexual behavior reflects many different attributes about our lives. It is also a very important part of our society in that the more one knows about sex and understands what the effects of expressing love in this way. The chapter dove into the impacts on our belief system of sex from parental relationships to religion to our peers and siblings. It also questions what we really know about sex and intimacy. Overall, it seemed the more that you know, the better and if you know who you are as a person then human sexuality can make you feel complete and part of the society.
New, Interesting, or Unusual Items Learned,
I found it very interesting that the relationship and guidance from your parents truly impacts your sexual activity. For instance, how a father-son relationship will tend to delay intercourse. This seems to be a true reflection of our society today.
Question/Concern,
Do monogamous relationships create an atmosphere where sex is desired or does it have the opposite effect? Also, why is our society moving away towards the traditional sexual relationships (i.e. marriage, no divorce, etc)
Brian Bitner
I personally believe that monogamous relationships advocate sexual interaction. In my opinion, I believe that trusting another person emotionally allows for a closer, more intense physical bond. This is purely anecdotal information, however, and it is based completely upon my previous and current experiences.
