Remarriage Chart

In class we were shown a chart of the difference of remarriage across cultures. Asians had 11% while Blacks and Native Americans had nearly double that percentage. I think Asians might have the view that even if you are unhappy in a relationship or marriage that you just stay with them. My best friend's roommate is from China and is dating a guy also from China. He is very controlling of what she does and he is quite mean to her. My friend often asks her if she is happy in the relationship and she answers "no," but she says that she still loves him. Recently, he has hit her (this is the third time) and the police got involved,, but she has refused to break up with him and continues to see him. I think she stays in the relationship because she knows he can provide for her and she has the perception that it doesn't matter if you love him, he just has to meet that expectation of being a good provider.
