Viral video of a judge beating his teenage daughter

I was debating about posting this video on the course blog for the past few days. Since we recently covered corporal punishment and we discussed on Monday that even it starts mild and may escalate or that it may lead to resentment in children, I thought this video overlaps with both points very well. It is a home video posted on youtube by Hillary Adams, the very own daughter of judge William Adams of Aransas County in TX.

According to Hillary, the corporal punishment started with spankings but escalated to full-blown beatings as shown in her video. She told Matt Lauer that she learned his pattern and she could sense that a beating was coming up. That way she set up the camera in her room approximately 30 min before the incident and capture what happened that night.

The whole reason for that beating was because she downloaded pirated material from internet.
